In talk therapy sessions we will explore and unpack your traumatic experiences. These may result from an unhealthy relationship or a variety of other sources. Trauma causes our system to become easily overwhelmed and it can react with emotions such as anger, anxiety and low mood. If your system has been overwhelmed for some time you've likely developed coping mechanisms to help manage, and many of them may no longer be working. If you find that you continue to repeat the same patterns in interactions with others and these are no longer helpful, it might be time to change them. I will help you to learn about yourself, how your body reacts and together we will find healthier and more adaptive strategies for you to use to help regulate your system and your emotions.

Are you struggling with your self-esteem? Have you been in an unhealthy, toxic or abusive relationship? This can leave you feeling helpless and without direction. You might struggle to create and manage boundaries or not have any at all. You might end up losing your ability to connect to others and feel that your relationships exist on a superficial level. This can lead to anxiety and a feeling that you are not safe. Your body might be spending signals to your brain that are misinterpreted.

My practice aims to help you regain confidence, reestablish connections and rebuild a sense of safety. We will explore your relationships with yourself and the people most important to you. You will learn how to regulate your emotions in order to feel safe. With this skill, you will be better equipped to help your child regulate their emotions too.

I will meet you where you are at and we will develop a treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. The therapeutic relationship we establish will be a safe space for you to explore how to be yourself again and set healthy boundaries.
